Severance was one of the best shows of 2022. It was so good that those of us who love it are, yes, still thinking about it. A lot. And now we have something new to think about: a premiere date for season two! Which, tragically, is in a year that sounds made up. That’s right: Severance isn’t coming back until 2025.

But any date is better than no date. The date announcement comes in the form of a very, very tiny teaser (below), which revisits the premise of the show and very, very briefly introduces Gwendoline Christie’s new character. She says only, “You should have left,” and her tone could not be more ominous.

Apple TV+’s synopsis says:

In Severance, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself. In season two, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.

Severance is created and written by Dan Erickson, and produced and directed by Ben Stiller. (Stiller directs half of the second season’s 10 episodes; the other directors are Uta Briesewitz, Sam Donovan, and Jessica Lee Gagné.) Along with Adam Scott, it stars Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Patricia Arquette, and Christopher Walken, and every single one of them deserves a pile of awards. In season two, Sarah Bock joins as a regular.

Severance returns to Apple TV+ on January 17, 2025. Get your music experience picks ready. icon-paragraph-end
